Yamaha plans to walk the scoot-way

Yamaha plans to walk the scoot-waysAn Indian customer is the hardest to please, the manufacturers reckon. He wants to the best value for the money he spends, such top notch quality which lasts longer than himself and still doesn't drop a bomb in his pocket. No wonder variomatic scooters in the Indian two-wheeler industry come second on the list (after upto 150 cc commuters) for their practicality and ride-ability to almost all the members of the family. Trying to catch the golden goose, major bike manufacturers have come up with a noticeable range in scooter segment as well and the latest in the league being Japanese two-wheeler giant- Yamaha. After a rather impressive sales chart in commuter bikes segment, the company plans to foray into the scooter market too. R&D for the new scooter has already started and the company promises to showcase a product which meets the challenges and requirements of Indian road conditions the best.

Two-wheeler manufacturers in the country are busy catering the vertical rise in demand for their products. Just yeterday we reported that TVS motors has had a 27% rise in sales figures in november over the same time last year. Looks like its the same recipe in every kitchen. India biggest two-wheeler manufacturer Hero Honda has reported a 10.5% increase in sales for november. They say it is difficult to acheive a  huge improvement when you are at the top but Hero Honda has shown how its done. Their sales figure stand at 4,21,366 units as opposed to 3,81,378 units last novemeber, an increase of almost 40,000 units! Suzuki's indian subsidary has seen an even bigger growth of 77% due to the success of their latest small bike, Slingshot. The highest rise in sales however, has been recorded by Mahindra two-wheelers who recently launched their small bike Stallio in the market. Mahindra two wheelers has reported a mindblowing 125% increase in sales after they sold 15,854 units against a tiny figure of just 1706 units last year
